Important Information when Visiting Malta

  • Driving in Malta is like going back in time. Streets are narrow and cobbled, making you feel like a part of history.
  • Although Malta is small in territory it is huge in emotions. Winding roads keep you alert, providing you a chance to enjoy an exciting trip with every curve.
  • Prepare to be amazed by spectacular panoramic views. Drive to more elevated areas like Dingli Cliffs and soak in the views of the sea and the bluffs. It is like driving in a moving painting!
  • Malta has some of the most beautiful coastal routes. Imagine driving next to a turquoise sea, feeling the breeze in your hair, and making improvised stops to take photos on dreamy beaches.
  • Malta is not just one island, there are three! Enjoy the thrill of taking a ferry to explore Gozo and Comino. Driving into a ferry is like starting a new adventure each way.
  • Take advantage of the charming cafés alongside the road. Park your car and enjoy a Maltese coffee while observing the bustling local scene and vibrant colors.
  • You can have a minimum of three (3) additional drivers when booking the rental, at a cost of five euros (€ 5,00) each, per day.
  • The minimum age to drive a rental car is twenty-one (21) years old. The maximum age to drive a rental car is seventy (70). There will be an additional charge of five euros (€ 5,00) for a driver between the ages of twenty-one (21) and twenty-four (24), without limit. This charge per driver is not included in the quote of the rental.
  • Clients that do not cancel their reservation through the same source where it was booked, at least forty-eight (48) hours ahead of pick-up, or do not arrive for pick-up, are subject to an administrative charge of thirty euros (30 €), or the cost of a day's rental, whichever is highest.
  • 21-year-old drivers must have at least one year's driving experience.
  • Charges for the ferry and crossing the border are not included in the estimated price and are not available at the counter. The ferry bordering the island of Gozo is authorized by the rental company, but the client may not cross any other border outside of Malta and Gozo.
  • The vehicle must be returned with the same amount of fuel it had when rented, to avoid a refueling charge.
  • Valid Driver’s License: You’ll need a driver’s license from your home country to drive in Malta as well as a passport (both must be valid).
  • Proof of Insurance: If you plan to self-insure, we'll need proof of personal coverage with the name of the renter on the policy, and it must be for collision and civil liability covering bodily and property damages.
  • Form of Payment - You'll need a credit card (with the driver's name) to pay the rental and the security deposit. The deposits vary depending on the vehicle and protection plan you choose. This deposit is reimbursed when the automobile has been returned, as long as the vehicle is in the same condition as when it was picked-up. This can last several days, up to a week, to process.
  • Maltais full of history and ancientsites. Don't miss seeing the prehistoric temple of Hagar Qim and Mnajdra, or the walled city of Mdina where you can immerse yourself in the medieval history of the island.
  • Visit local markets such as Marsaxlokk Market to explore the Maltese culture and try fresh products such as fish, fruit, and vegetables.
  • Enjoy an exciting boat trip through the Blue Grotto, a series of marine caves and arches that offer a spectacular view of the crystal waters and the coast of Malta.
  • If you have time, consider taking a ferry to the island of Gozo and enjoy hiking in places like Azure Window and Ramla Bay to appreciate the region's natural beauty.
  • Explore the Three Cities (Vittoriosa, Senglea y Cospicua) to get an authentic vision of the local life and rich naval history of Malta.
  • Snorkel or dive in the crystal waters of the island of Comino, home to the famous Blue Lagoon. Here you can explore coral reefs and shipwrecks.
