  Additional Drivers

As of January 1st,2022. Additional driver(s) not related to the primary driver with the same last name will be charged additional driver fee of $10 USD per day. The additional driver must be on the rental agreement and will have the same responsibilities as the primary driver.

  After Hours

After hours’ car rental off service There are occasions where Car Rental Café/Economy Rent A Car customer’s need the ability to return their rental vehicle before or after our hours of operation. In these cases, we offer the opportunity to choose 2 options: 1)After-hours DROPBOX. In this case, please park the vehicle near our office on any parking space or parking meter available and walk over to your left from our main entrance door and locate the second door in the back with the sign indicating AFTER-HOURS DROPBOX. Please pay attention to street sweeping sings. (NO SHUTTLE AVAILABLE). 2)Aladdin airport parking. (2548 Kettner Blvd. San Diego, CA 92101) For a one-time fee of $29.99, you can drop the rental vehicle at this secure parking garage and they will provide shuttle directly to the airport terminals at any time (Open 24 hrs). If you choose Aladdin Airport Parking, please notify the valet attendant that you are leaving a car rental from ECONOMY RENT A CAR/CAR RENTAL CAFÉ, they will provide a release form to be filled and direct you to park and designated valet area. They will then proceed to shuttle you to the airport terminals. If you choose any of these options, please be aware that you are doing so at your own risk. Aladdin Airport Parking operates at the highest level of service, and this is why we sanction them. However, you are still responsible for the rental car, its damage or any mishaps, while parked. We will recover the vehicle from any of the after-hours options within 24-Hours after you drop your rental. Once we have possession of your rental vehicle we will inspect and close your rental agreement and email you a final invoice.

  Age

The minimum age of the Renter or any additional driver must be 18. Drivers age 18-20 may rent a vehicle for an additional charge of $25.00 per day and ages 21-24 will be $25 per day.

  Business Hours

Pick up time Monday to Friday 07:00 to 19:00 , Saturday 07.00 to 17.00 and Sunday 07.00 to 15.00. For Return After hours: Drop Off 1 Time Fee of $29.99USD

  Cancellation

Customers who fail to cancel their reservation from the source it was booked, at least 48 hours prior of the pick up time, or do not show up for their reservation are subject to a $ 50 USD charge or one day rental charge, whichever is higher.

  Debit Cards

Debit cards are permitted with a return flight and $300 deposit. No cash deposits are allowed. Economy Rent a Car accepts all major credit cards. No one other than the person named on the credit card may use that credit card for the deposit. The card holder must be present at the time of rental.

  Drivers License

Renter must present a valid driver license at the time of rental. Foreign renters must present a valid driver license and a valid passport and based on the date of the entry stamp, will be allowed to rent a vehicle for up to 90 days, present at time of rental. We do not accept any paper or temporary driver license

  Emergency Info

(ERA) Is an optional product, this program will have a cost of 3.99/day. With ERA, key services (lost or locked in car), jump starts and gas service (in case you run out of gas) will be provided at no cost. If customer prefers not to purchase ERA then will be responsible for any *service fees* in the event said customer requires any of the services listed above.

  Equipment

Economy rent a car has the following products available upon request: GPS, Baby Seat, Booster Seats, maps, and other accessories. Prices vary and all items are subject to availability upon arrival. It is the law that children and babies be seated in baby seats or booster seat you may be fined.

  Gas

Vehicle must be returned with same amount of fuel as rented to avoid a refueling service charge.

  Geographic

Vehicles are allowed in southern California only, no further than Los Angeles/ Santa Barbara area to the north, the Mexican border to the south, and palm desert to the east. (Nevada and Arizona state are available for an additional cost)

  Insurance

Insurance products available upon request.

  Local Renters

Local renters are those who do not bring proof of return flight. And may be subject to mile limitations of 100 miles per day with and an additional .49 per mile afterwards. Major Credit Card only. Major credit cards only must qualify with full coverage auto insurance and a "MINIMUM" deposit of $350.00 in addition to the rental cost.

  Mileage

Free mileage are offer to the rental. Mileage restrictions may apply for local renters

  One-Way

There may be an additional charge for dropping off the vehicle at a different office. The drop off charge varies depending at which office you are renting from and which office you are returning the vehicle into.

  Optional Protection Products

Emergency roadside assistance: all contracts will be automatically enrolled in the emergency roadside assistance (ERA) program at surcharge of only 3.99/day. Key services (locked in car), jump starts and gas service (in case you run out of gas) will be provided at no cost. If customer prefers not to participate, they must decline participation upon rental and be responsible for any *service fees* in the event said customer requires any of the services listed above.

  Payment

We accept all major credit and debit cards, Deposit: The amount of the rent plus a minimum of $200, will be held in your card at the time of the rental, once the vehicle is returned this deposit will be released this process can take 3 to 10 business days. Credit or Debit cards will be subject to verification at the moment of the rental. For those reservations that require a credit card guarantee, customers will be subject to a one day rental fee if they fail to show up to rent their reserved car, or if reservations are not canceled at least 48 hours prior to the reserved date through the source the reservation was made through.

  Prepaid Debit Cards

We do not accept any type of prepaid debit card.

  Prepaid Reservations

If you have made a reservation you may pay on arrival however to make a reservation we will need a credit card to guarantee your vehicle. There may be an authorization on your Credit Card statement of USD$1.00 please be advised that a no show fee equivalent to a one day rental plus taxes with a minimum of USD$35.00 will be charged to the Credit Card. If vehicle is not pick up you can avoid this fee by cancelling your reservation through the same website you made it, you cannot call or write to cancel you can cancel only through the website where the reservation was made at least 48 hours in advance of your scheduled rental time. Prepaid reservations-if you have a prepaid reservation your Credit Card will be charged in full at the time you made your reservation. The Credit Card that you paid your reservation must be present at the time of pick up. Refund and cancellation policy-a prepaid reservation is a nonrefundable booking. If you do not pick up your rental when scheduled your reservation will not be modified. If you do not pick up your rental when scheduled your reservation will be cancelled and you will not receive a refund or credit. For customer satisfaction Economy will apply a refund for any of the reasons below-after verification- -flight cancelled and customer could not get to the rental location-natural disaster prevented travel- Illness prevented travel-death in family prevented travel-jury duty prevented travel-Economy was unable to fulfill the customer reservation (example no vehicle available) - Any action due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please be advised that there will be a charge of a handling fee for cancelling. If a customer chooses to change the date of their reservation the handling fee will be waived but may be subject to a rate adjustment. For date change please contact 1 877 326 7368. To process a refund or if you have any problems with your reservation please email customercare@economyrentacar.com. Must be prior to your pick up.

  Reservation hold time

Vehicles are held for two hours after reserved arrival time. When flight details are provided, we will hold vehicle for up to two hours after flight arrival. In the event of delays, you may call or e-mail us to advise of any changes in your pick up time. After the two hour window, you will be considered a no-show and we may or may not be able to honor your reservation, depending upon availability.   Rules

By renting a vehicle from Economy Rent A Car and Economy Rent A Car affiliates, you hereby agree that any and all disputes and controversies arising out of your reservations and your rental of the vehicle shall be resolved solely and exclusively by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association.

  Shuttle

Thank you for choosing Economy Rent A Car. When you arrive please call 619 546-4200 ext. 2. Our operators will provide shuttle instructions for a quick trip to our rental lobby.

  CDW

L.D.W - Loss Damage Waiver * - is an optional product, it is a waiver of Economy Rent A Cars right to collect from the Renter for damages caused to the rental vehicle over the deductible amount. Deductible varies by vehicle. L.D.W. charges are: $11.00 to $25.00 per day. L.D.W. *All Waivers will be void if the terms of the rental agreement are violated. All of the products or waivers listed will become null and void in the event of negligence while driving or while in possession of the rental vehicle such as driving the vehicle across beaches, rivers, etc, or driving under the influence of liquor, drugs or any other substance that could impair the drivers ability to operate the vehicle. Other negligent acts include, but are not limited to, leaving the keys in the ignition with the vehicle unattended, falling asleep while driving, ignoring traffic signals or police officers. --written proof-- If Renter wishes to decline L.W. Liability Waiver or L.D.W. Loss Damage Waiver and rely on their own personal insurance, the Renter must provide written proof from their insurance company, specifically stating coverage is effective in the country of United States for the duration of the rental agreement for third part liability. A minimum security deposit of $300 USD will be required, if customer does not accept L.W. then L.L.W will automatically be required.
